Is this service really free? Yes! Newsstrike will not cost you a penny! Aren’t you doing it to get a bunch of users and then charge? Why not? That is not the plan. Free dissemination is good for the branding of Newsstrike and its parent company, Hold Brothers Inc. (www.hold.com). How do I get a login ID and password? E-mail us at newsstrike@hold.com with your full name and we will e-mail you with your login ID and password within one business day. I have my ID, how do I download the software? The Newsstrike software can be downloaded at www.newsstrike.com/install How do I set up the software? When you go to www.newsstrike.com/install, simply scroll the page down for step-by-step instructions. How do I disable the sound effects? Go to ‘Settings’ and select ‘Options’. Under the ‘Sound Notifications’ tab, uncheck the ‘Disable all sounds’ box. If I disable all sounds, will I still be able to hear the news? Yes. You will still receive all news announcements. I try to connect and I get a ‘socket error’. What do I do? Under ‘Server Address’, replace ‘news.newsstrike.com’ with ’66.28.34.117’ or ’66.7.68.141’ I tried substituting the server address and I still can’t connect. Now what? There is a possible firewall issue. Double-check all the information has been correctly entered, and if you still can not connect, e-mail us at newsstrike@hold.com with your contact information and someone will be in contact with you to help you diagnose the problem and fix it. I am connected to Newsstrike, but I don’t hear anything. Why not? Newsstrike will only make announcements as market-moving news is coming across the wires. There will be times when no significant news is breaking – rather than providing unnecessary color, Newsstrike will remain silent to allow you to focus on your trading. I am not hearing information I need to trade. Who can I talk to? Newsstrike is open to your suggestions! Does Newsstrike have any conflicts of interests? How is the news disseminated? Newsstrike is conflict-free. As soon as market-moving news hits the wires, the news is announced to all listeners simultaneously. Newsstrike is disseminated to the public over the same type of hardware and software, Teamspeak, that Hold Brothers traders use, at the same speed, with no added latency.
